Hexham Squash 1st team continued their dominance at the top of Northumbria Division 2 with another strong performance against Concordia.

Following an impressive 4-1 away win against closest rivals Primrose, Hexham were feeling confident.

Captain Jeremy Phillipson, playing up the order in the absence of Damon Watts, was on fire in the first game and didn’t miss a shot. A slightly shellshocked opponent Steve Ross came back stronger in the following games but Jeremy’s speed and accuracy were too much taking a 3-0 victory.

The second match saw Adrian Alderton taking on Peter Archbold and promised to be a close encounter. Adrian took the first game but unfortunately Peter picked up an injury and had to retire.

Paul Satow also proved too strong with his deadly dropshots for Dan Cusack. He cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win.

Similarly, Andrew Wilkinson’s pacey game proved a handful for Concordia man, Peter Irlam.  Despite some good rallies Andrew’s power succeeded 3-0.

Concordia were strong at No.1 with experienced Simon Long. Hexham’s Tom Ewen put up a sterling battle however, but with every shot in the book Simon’s overall game was too good.

Hexham took the match 4-1 and victory cemented their place as league leaders with 3 matches left.
